Overview:

Let’s embark on a transformative journey and learn how you can become agents of change in your community!

Join the UWC Cyprus hybrid short course for 2026, Diversity in Action – Υouth Leaders Co-Creating Change in a Diverse World.

Over the course of 4 weeks, we’ll bring together 25 to 35 passionate youth residing in Cyprus to empower them as active citizens for a peaceful and sustainable future. Building on the success of previous hybrid short courses, this year’s programme focuses on equipping youth with the skills, attitudes, and knowledge to become collaborative leaders and agents of change within their schools, neighbourhoods, and communities.

Educational programme:

This is a 4-week online learning programme that will run from 4 to 28 March 2026. Each week, participants will join an online workshop. In addition, there will be two in-person training sessions during the course.

The programme includes interactive activities, discussions, and opportunities for participants to develop their own project ideas. All sessions will be held in English.

The course is fully funded by the European Union, ensuring accessibility for all successful applicants.

Theme:

The course focuses on helping young people become collaborative and responsible leaders in today’s interconnected world. Through experiential activities, participants will strengthen important skills such as decision-making, problem-solving, working in teams, active listening, and empathy. They will also explore what it means to be a leader in a diverse community, including how to recognise and challenge stereotypes, biases, and exclusion.

Participants will learn from local initiatives and NGOs that are working for positive social change in Cyprus. They will then use what they learn to develop their own practical ideas for projects that promote inclusion, diversity, and equity in their schools and communities.

Objectives:
  • Develop leadership skills grounded in collaboration, active listening, and empathy.
  • Equip participants with advocacy and communication skills to inspire change.
  • Promote meaningful dialogue between youth from diverse communities in Cyprus.
  • Encourage teamwork, adaptability, and problem-solving.
  • Empower participants to take initiative and become changemakers in their schools, neighbourhoods, and communities.
