To apply to the scholarships funded under the EU Scholarship Programme for Cypriot Youth at UWC you must meet the following criteria:
1. Age requirement
Applicants must be born between 2025 and 2025. This typically aligns with students entering the final two years of secondary education, but specific age requirements may vary by UWC school or college.
2. Educational background
Applicants should be currently enrolled in year 10 or year 11. A strong academic record is important, but we also value a demonstrated commitment to learning beyond the classroom.
3. Residency and nationality
Candidates applying to the EU Scholarship Programme must:
- Be a permanent resident of Cyprus;
- Have at least one of the parent who is of Cypriot nationality;
- Have attended school in Cyprus for at least five years (cumulatively);

4. Personal qualities and values

5. Language requirements
UWC schools and colleges primarily use English as the language of instruction. While fluency is not required at the time of application, applicants are advised to attain a basic proficiency in English and demonstrate a willingness to improve their language skills.

Please note that you are only allowed to submit one application per academic year to study at UWC, even if you are eligible to apply via more than one UWC national committee.

General Conditions for All Applicants
- If selected for the second stage of the selection process, applicants must attend the in-person selection workshops on the specified dates.
- Applicants must complete the health disclosure form as part of the online or written application.
- Selected scholars are responsible for securing insurance coverage for the duration of their stay in the host country. This must include health insurance that covers any serious health or welfare issues that may arise after arrival.
- Scholars are expected to participate in events organised under the EU Scholarship Programme for Cypriot Youth at UWC, such as pre-departure meetings, debriefing sessions, network events, and focus groups.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS TO PROVE ELIGIBILITY
All applicants will be asked to upload the required documents listed below on the online portal for their application to be valid, before the application deadline. The documents can be in English, Turkish or Greek. No translation is required.
- A copy of the applicant’s birth certificate
- A copy of the applicant’s identification card
- A copy of the applicant’s passport (optional)
- A copy of the ID card or passport of one parent, issued by the Republic of Cyprus
- A copy of a certificate of residence confirming the applicant’s current valid address, as stated in the online application form
- Proof of enrolment for the 2025/26 academic year: either a copy of the latest transcript or an official document from the applicant’s school/education authorities confirming enrolment
- Proof of five years of education in Cyprus: official document(s) from the applicant’s school/education authorities confirming that the applicant has cumulatively completed at least five years of full-time primary or secondary education in Cyprus. If the applicant is enrolled for the 2025/26 academic year, this year will count toward the five-year requirement.
Important Notes
Scholars will be selected to study at a UWC college for the period of 1 September 2026 and 31 August 2028.
The UWC Cyprus application process will be managed through our online portal. A passport size photo, as well as all relevant eligibility documents (see above) will need to be uploaded on the portal while submitting the application form.
The deadline for submitting the online application along with the required eligibility documents is Sunday 11 January 2026, by 23.59 hours Cyprus time. Our online portal will be automatically closed for applications after this time.
