UWC Cyprus is governed by a volunteer board composed of UWC alumni dedicated to selecting and supporting students and their families for the UWC movement. Our members are passionate about education and international understanding, working together to create opportunities for young changemakers.
In the context of theEU Scholarship Programme for Cypriot Youth at UWC, UWC Cyprus employs a dedicated team of four professionals responsible for the implementation of all aspects of the programme, whilst receiving guidance and support from UWC International. .
The UWC Cyprus Selections Committee is made up of individuals who share UWC’s mission and values. These include:
- UWC alumni and their families – Former students who have attended UWC schools or short courses and their families, bringing firsthand experience of the UWC journey and dedicated to guiding new students.
- Education professionals – Teachers, school administrators, and educators who are committed to nurturing young minds and promoting transformative education.
- Other volunteers – Supporters of UWC who contribute their time and expertise to help select and guide students.
Our history and impact
- Cypriot students have been studying at UWC schools since the 1980s.
- Since 2019, UWC Cyprus has become more active, implementing 9 – The EU Scholarship Programme for Cypriot Youth at UWC, a partnership between UWC and the European Commission.
- Over 100 students from Cyprus have attended UWC schools and colleges since the formation. 82 of these students were funded under the EU Scholarship Programme for Cypriot Youth at UWC.
- The EU Scholarship Programme for Cypriot Youth at UWC also runs the Diversity in Action UWC short course. To date, 210 young people from both communities of Cyprus — as well as from abroad — have taken part.
- Cyprus has hosted UWC Short Courses in 1990, 1991, 1993 and 2000.
- Each year, we receive around 150 applications and carefully select students through our rigorous selection process.

- We maintain strong connections with UWC schools, colleges, and alumni to offer insights and support to students and their families throughout their journey.
